Is there anybody out there? I feel like I was gone for so long. Honestly, I was trying to fight my internet addiction by avoiding LJ, but it only got me addicted to Facebook of all things :P
Believe me, you wouldn't like to know how do I spend my time there...Yes, I am the hopeless case.

As a good news - I finished my illustration job at least and the series of notebooks with my design is in stores now. It took me a lot of time, especially the technical part, but now I'm happy to see them being sold (hopefully!)

I also got the Vans shoes designed by Neckface, that I wanted so much. They are super awesome :D

If you haven't already, be sure to check [info]abe_kroenen. I found it on LJ Spotlight this week and from then on I spend 1,5 day just reading it. Seems to be the most awesome slash web comic ever :D Not only for its sleshness but the brilliant sense of humor and overall creativity.
Oh, and it's from Hellboy movieverse. I have to admit I haven't seen the first Hellboy movie and I'm not the big fan of the second, perhaps because I like the original comic so much. I couldn't get over Hellboy being in established relationship with Liz or Abe's (whom I like so much) cheap look and effeminate behavior, LOL. Somehow, I just loved the whole crackish thing in the webcomic :D

1. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times.
"The man who fell to earth", "Withnail & I", "Cry baby"; Probably also “Der Untergang”. I guess I saw most of Monty Python movies about as many times, too.

2. Name a movie that you’ve seen multiple times in the theater.
"Velvet Goldmine", "Eraserhead", "Naked Lunch", "Cabinet of dr Caligari", "Fellowship of the Ring", "Batman - the Dark Knight"...

3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie.
Dirk Bogarde, Michael Caine, Edward Norton, Gary Oldman, Tilda Swinton, Helena Bonham Carter, Johnny Depp, David Thevlis, Christian Bale, Rupert Everett

4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie.
Tom Hanks, Nicolas Cage (not if it was some of his older movies), any of the Baldwin brothers.

5. Name a movie that you can quote from.
"The bitter tears of Petra von Kant", "Velvet Goldmine", "Rocky Horror Picture Show"
“The Dark Knight” obviously. I also like some Snape's quotes from HP.

I listen to this the whole day - this song and video is so awesome I have to post it here.
(some may find it disturbing, though)

As to myself, well... Last week not only I was sick but I had really a lot of work, both in my job and some freelance things I do from time to time. I asked my boss to work at home, which was comfortable but made me spend even more time at the tasks I had to do.
Anyway, situations like this make it too easy for me to become an outsider - I can carry on seeing nobody for days (or even weeks probably) and as it proceeds I start to even get annoyed when people call me... It really worries me sometimes (not often enough, though).

So I decided to socialize and have a dinner with my friends tonight and - which was the most difficult - not to get completely drunk and to return home at a sensible hour.
It proved a good idea (+ I succeeded with not getting drunk - well, we didn't have enough wine and the shop was too far). We had fun, too. Sometimes we joke that when we get old we would all live together in the elderly home and hate each other, of course we try to guess how we will behave etc. I imagined I will probably become a crazy old woman who will collect too many things in her room, some of them stolen from others. They added I would also dress in black and steal drugs to take them secretly. Sometimes I think it could really be funny for us to live like that.

They also told me about the movie they saw, it was a German porn (well, kind of) about a killing condom (!) who attacked the men and the private eye who tries to solve the case of those mysterious deaths. The whole thing happens in NY (but they speak German) and, as they said, there is no actual sex in the movie since the condoms attack very quickly!
I have to see this :D

What a failure (again)! I bought "Gotham by gaslight" - a Batman comic drawn by Mike Mignola - overpaid (because I got it on internet auction) and now I see it doesn't even look so good :P The drawings seem very disapointing...
I loved Mignola's Hellboy (especialy "The Chained Coffin") and tend to put too much trust in him since then, even as it was betrayed several times, when I bought very disappointing comic books with his name on the cover. Some of them were mostly drawn by others, attempting Mignola's style, other were some unfinished Hellboy stories which made no (or very little) sense. Anyways I haven't seen a good Hellboy story since, I think, "The Right Hand of Doom".
He is probably more lazy than me, even! Why do I keep buying his new stuff?!
His short Batman story, "Sanctum", was perfect, though.

I am so glad I decided to buy Sony Reader! It is so comfortable to read fanfiction with, and very easy to download text. I don't have to spend so much time in front of computer now, and e-paper screen really looks very much like a print (but more like paperback, due to grayish tone and small size). Unfortunately the design of Reader is very ugly and pseudo-elegant, it also have a book-like fake leather cover in the color of shit. (I still find Amazon Kindle looks so much better!)
Anyway, I hope it will help me to fight my computer addiction a little, because now I seem to hardly remember what my flat looks like... Now I can at least read some text sitting on the sofa (but wait , the sofa, where was it?)

After watching this Batman/Joker fanvid i checked other IAMX songs and finished buying the ticket for his concert. It was quite funny, because I entered his last.fm profile page and first thing I saw was that he will perform in Warsaw on 16 November. I hope fangirls won't kill me.

Also, for those who haven't heard it - one of the most beautiful love songs I've heard, by Lou Reed "The Power of the Heart"

I ment it to be used as a wallpaper but now I think it's too much white in the picture and it makes my eyes tired. So, instead I have now a Dirk Bogarde "The Singer Not The Song" wallpaper which makes it very hard to concentrate on work ;D

Since early morning I'm listening to Nick Cave's "No more Shell We Part" album and only now I realized it's his birthday! I had a long break from his music but few weeks ago it came back to me somehow and now it's what I listen to most (and mostly sinking into some self-generated gloom).
And to think my "artist of the season" was supposed to be Billy Bragg. I picked him in hope that he'll make me into an energetic, smart intellectual, walking the sunny streets filled with autumn's golden leaves, carrying a sophisticated book while my eyes would be searching for infos on film festivals and lectures to attend (was I asking this much, Billy?!?)
And here I am, sitting in my home and looking at the rain & darkness outside, wasting most of the time and listening do depressing songs. Now, that's sophisticated! HA!

Thank you, Nick Cave!

The weather is awful (is it winter?!) and it seems only a silly song and a good fanfic (not in the same time, though) are able to cheer me up. I was lucky to find this great (but oh too short!) fanfic by [info]etothepii . A real treat for those who like Joker with slash bits. I would also recommend her other stories - she has a great style, interesting ideas and her Joker is so in character. I can't wait to read more of her writings!
I also did awful fanart which I'm probably going to post if I'll manage to plug in my scanner.
Also I finally found out how to post a links in html (at least)! :D

I rather expected that I won't like new Batman, as I didn't like "Batman Begins" , so I was really kind of surprised when I found myself watching it for a second time, and, of all in IMAX. There must be something about this movie and I'm still not sure what it is, but it has this feeling of a classic - good story, charming characters, good quotes ( and high slash factor haha! - although I seem inclined to see slash possibility almost everywhere) It's also one of the few movies that had special effects I could really enjoy. Usually I get bored during all the car races long-lasting explosions, but here - all it takes is a video from youtube with some linkin park song and the giant truck or hospital scene (or Jocker driving police car) and I want to see the whole movie again.
I was a little worried about liking Joker too much (am I a psycho?) but I see I'm not the only one :)

OMG
My current ship is Kindle/Reader :-P This is going to drive me mad before I decide which one to buy. Good thing is that I found some usefull reviews on YouTube, showing how both things work.

As to slash, I'm currently reading Manna Francis' original fiction. Quite interesting so far.

As I read a lot from the net I decided to buy an e-book reader. So now I have to choose either Amazon Kindle or Sony Reader 505.
Kindle seems to  work only in US, at least most of it's functions (many of them I still wouldn't probably use, since I mostly want to read fanfiction and articles downloaded from the web) but it seems to have better menu design and nicer text layout. Wired as it is, I also like the 80' style design. Looks like something taken straight from Blake's 7 set!
Sony Reader seems better rated by users (through it may be because they like it's modern design) and reads more file formats, such as pdf.

By heart I would choose Kindle, but won't it cause problem when I would use it in Europe? I don't really care for buying e-books on the go or using the device for reading blogs, I mainly want to download my own text files and read them easily.

Difficult choice, since I have to order without seeing any of them at work.

I still can't make it and finish the second series of Blake's 7. I mean - it's only once that you see the thing for the first time - and I can hardly get over it. Only two episodes with Blake in them left to watch... I was already sad to see Travis gone after first series (to be replaced with perverted Elvis) and now - no Blake. Depressing.

After reading Divide by [info]babel I'm about to break my personal record at the rareness of a pairing I started to like, really. Is Travis1/Carnell more rare than Haldir/Eomer (my LotR favourite?)
Some stories are just too good...

By the way, after i've heard that "Neuromancer" movie is going to be put into production (with Hayden Christensen as Case, so I don't think I'll even want to see it...) I started to wonder if there is any Neuromancer slash existing. Suprisingly I couldn't find any. I can hardly believe the book didn't inspire any slash writer. Wouldn't Case/Riviera be exciting?

Why do I always have to like the most rare pairings in every fandom? (Must be some hidden desire to be original or what?) Even if I start with something popular like Snarry  I somehow finish with Snape/Black, Haldir/Eomer or Avon/Travis. I guess I secretly enjoy making things more complicated and finding reasons to complain... I should really put some attention to that.

I'm deeply ashamed when I look at my journal. On the start of the year I promised myself (did I really?) to write more often and practice my English. And now, as I look at it, I see only some crap and at the top the song of Will Oldham which I posted while I was drunk after my birthday... What does it say about me? :-P
Honestly - I started one illustration for a Snack fic I liked very much, but I'm not satisfied with the gradients I put in the background and I have to do something about it before I post it.
As for now I am obsessed with Blake's7 - I got a bit interested after reading Fanlay's journal entry and decided to watch one or two episodes, just to check what it is. Of course after that I had to stop myself from watching the whole thing at one go. I have to say it was a long time since I liked any series so much. I try to watch no more than 1 episode daily so the pleasure would last longer. Now I'm in the second half of series 2 and somehow afraid of finishing it. Will the next series be as good without Blake and Travis? I already miss Travis1, who was one of the best characters in my opinion. Travis 2 is ok, but his type is more popular in sci-fi, the first Travis seemed more unique and with Servalan they made really awesome duo.
